I arrived back in Cambridge in April, hoping to do a CELTA course. I had a couple of ideas for a job, such as driving a bus or long distance coach. Finally I fell back on my old silver service skills, and had an opportunity to work once again in the beautiful backdrop of some of the colleges. As an introduction to my return back to Cambridge please enjoy some of the pictures of the colleges I have a been working at.
Kings College - From the Inside
There was a beautiful students dinner in the above college and the below college. The dinners were sumptuous affairs, swarve suits and exuberant dresses....
Magdalene College - Cambridge
Queens college - Mathematical Bridge This is a replica, built in 1905, relocated from the site of Newnham where a similar bridge was constructed in 1749 with the same basic design.
The bridge is known as mathamatical bridge, owing to the legend of its construction.
The bridge was supposed to be of such sophisticated design. That when schoolars tried to replicate it without the use of bolts they found that with all their calculations,....
They were still unable to replicate the "wizzardry" of the original constructors.
Whatever the truth about the "Mathamatical bridge," the passer by certainly gets the impression of something mystical about it.
For this very reason, and the fact that it can be observed clearly from the public road (silver street). It remains to this day one of the must see living exhibits in Cambridge.......
The computer is very sensitive Stuart and sometimes I fail to edit and correct my posts. I am sorry for this and I hope you can adjust them where you see fit.
Your above photographs of the beautiful colleges are wonderful. You say you are doing some SELTA exams. They sound rather advanced. I took some exams once. They were called TB exams, but all you had to do was write your name on some paper and they poked you with a pin. We got some sugar-exams too called POLIO exams. In this exam we had to stand in line and eat some sugarcube. I like this exam. I think the SELTA exam is a mis-spelling of SALTY exam, we all make spelling mistakes sometimes, Stuart, so don't worry. The SALTY exam I think means you stand in line and eat some salt, maybe you eat a bag of potato crisps or something.
I would like to go to your School but in the capacity as an instructor. That way I could tell the students that mdern schools are just about business. A degree, you see, Stuart, indicates that you are one of the better more rational pesants, as opposed to being just a pesant at large. It is only when you get your Union Card that you are someone worthy to talk to.
Silver service is good, I suppose. But there are better things like Guerdion Service. I myself have Certificates From the Queen of England: 7061, 7071, 717, and 7172. But they do not get you good jobs. The royally stamped paper made my mom proud, but I don't think she could read the scrip-writing below it. She thought the certificates meant we could get on the bus free. but it didn't work.
I will go now Stuart, write soon and tell me more about what you feed the rich people who sponge off the taxpayers behind these Ivoried wall.
